So many things exploding in my mind at once. One day off from work, reading some Reich, another early morning somatics session. It’s 4:30am and I’m having that peculiar experience of having things revealed to me. What exactly precipitated this experience? It’s the same formula, over and over, although it has been a long, long time since I’ve been in this place. I just have to let it flow at this point. Reich was right about so many things. I’m interested in reading the synthesis of Reich and Gurdieff that Binghamton guy put together. Maybe it will get me rolling again. Hanna’s big contribution is the formulation that spontaneous movement, free functioning movement is the key to unlocking the optimal, healthy functioning of the organism. Sexuality is merely a special case, a central function in the human organism, but merely a special case of a more general spontaneous movement pattern. I don’t need to penetrate this now. The key difference in the way these late night somatic sessions play out as opposed to my morning exercise routine is that the former is guided by a sense of the amnesiac muscles themselves, while the exercise routine is pushed along by a voluntary use of the larger muscles, the less refined and differentiated movement patterns, which usually bypasses the activation and detensifying of the very muscles that are binding up the energy and thus causing the diffuse sense of malaise which is the target of the inquiry. A rambling sentence yes, but there can be no doubt that I am alive right now, which itself is the end goal of this inquiry. This is why all this is so fucking Zen. It’s only through the doing of that which I seek (spontaneous movement) that I “get” that which I want, i.e. LIFE (I.E SPONTANEOUS MOVEMENT!). Only those who live feel alive. Only those who are open receive. If I want to feel fully alive I must only live fully. It’s that fucking simple!

From Reich’s “Beyond Psychology”:
“And the truth must finally lie in that which every oppressed individual feels within himself but hasn’t the courage to express.” p. 70
“It is obvious that humans are the only living creatures who deny the natural law of pleasure. Therefore war must exist. Frenzied electrical machines attacking one another — the senselessness of life is only made possible through the denial of the biology of life. Sexuality equals life. But all this philosophy is worthless trash. We must rescue life!” p.71
